San Bernardino Public Safety
Crime has gone down every year Councilman Brinker has served on the city council representing San Bernardino’s 3rd Ward. In 2007 he was the swing vote to make sure all of the measure Z sales tax went to hire 40 new police officers. San Bernardino City policing has changed dramatically in the past few years out of budget necessity. While the total numbers of officers has decreased the patrol numbers have been maintained through changes in scheduling patterns. Smart policing, increased community involvement, the use of data and technology have all led to dramatic decreases in crime levels.
- Murders down 32%
- Car theft down 34%
- Robbery down 27%
Brinker supports the citizen police academies to inform and train residents how to work with the police to better protect their neighborhoods.
